Star Trek: Picard's Patrick Stewart teases "startling events" in season 2

Star Trek: Picard spoilers for season 1 follow.

Sir Patrick Stewart has promised that fans' minds will be blown by the second season of his Star Trek spin-off Picard.

The CBS All Access and Amazon Prime series delivered a shocking season finale earlier this year, where the legendary Starfleet captain was essentially rebirthed in a synthetic body after his battle with the Borg and the Romulans.

As startling as season one's send-off was, Stewart teased in a recent interview with Gold Derby that fans will be even more stunned by what comes next.

"Because of how we are living currently, there is no writers' room, of course," he explained. "But everybody is writing and they are keeping me in touch with what is going on. We have video conferences."

The actor went on: "There are startling events predicted in season two. I am so excited about them, because it is taking season one on from where we were. We are not going to be covering the same ground. It is going to be extraordinary. I am very excited about it.

"Of course, I can't go into detail at all. I have a long conference planned for tomorrow where I hope for certain aspects of how season two will develop, and I'm looking forward to it very much."
