Picard: There's a 'Good Chance' Jean Luc Will Reunite With Beverly Crusher

Gates McFadden, who co-starred on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Dr. Beverly Crusher, said there's a "good chance" she'll appear in Season 2 of CBS All Access' spinoff, Star Trek: Picard.

McFadden told TrekMovie in an exclusive interview that "it would be lovely" to explore the relationship between Crusher and Picard 20 years after the events of The Next Generation, especially after how the character evolved.

"The character [had] become matron-like, and it was just weird," McFadden said. "I was no longer really the love interest of Picard and that was one of the primary things -- I was hired by Gene [Roddenberry, Star Trek's creator] himself as the love interest of Picard. That got changed. And that wasn’t changed by me."

McFadden's return to the Star Trek universe is not set, however. She said, "There’s a good chance, let’s put it that way. But I have no contract signed."

McFadden played Dr. Beverly Crusher in The Next Generation's first season. She was replaced by Diana Muldaur in Season 2 but returned the following season for the remainder of the show's run and for four theatrical films.

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. The first season is available on CBS All Access.
