Star Trek Debuts New Discovery and Lower Decks Footage
New clips of Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 and Star Trek: Lower Decks were released to highlight the 23 straight weeks of Star Trek episode releases beginning Aug. 6 and running through 2020.
The video tweet features dramatic music punctuated with pensive dialog from Discovery and irreverent jokes from Lower Decks. "We all want a future that matters," Commander Michael Burnham says in one clip. A few seconds later, Ensign Beckett Mariner quips, "What am I... Kirk? Is this the 2260s?" drawing a juxtaposition between the sincere gravitas of Discovery and the quirky self-aware tone of Lower Decks.

Star Trek: Lower Decks premiers Aug. 6. Star Trek: Discovery's third season starts Oct. 15, both series will release episodes weekly on CBS' streaming service CBS All Access.
