Stay Tuned: AMC Announces Series Based on John Ritter and Pam Dawber's Sci-Fi Comedy Film

Stay tuned, because Stay Tuned is coming to the small screen.

According to Deadline, AMC Studios is developing a TV series based on the 1992 cult classic. Fear the Walking Dead co-showrunner and executive producer Ian Goldberg will develop the show alongside Richard Naing, who will serve as a writer for the series. The adaptation is part of Goldberg's overall deal with AMC. No release date or casting details were announced.

The film follows Roy (John Ritter) and Helen Knable (Pam Dawber), a married couple who are transported into their television and must survive Hellevision, a satirical television world full of humorous parodies of TV shows and movies. It received mixed reviews and grossed $10 million at the box office with an unknown budget.

Some of the movies and TV shows the film parodies include Three's Company, Wayne's World, The Silence of the Lambs, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Exorcist, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Looney Tunes, World Wrestling Federation (WWF; now the WWE) and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
