Star Trek: Lower Decks Makes First Episode Available for Free
One week after its premiere, CBS All Access has made the series premiere of Star Trek: Lower Decks available to stream for free through YouTube for a limited time.
The first animated series in the iconic science-fiction franchise since 1973's Star Trek: The Animated Series, Lower Decks takes place shortly after the events of 2002's Star Trek Nemesis. The show follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Cerritos, one of the self-described least vital ships in Starfleet, tasked with handling menial, bureaucratic tasks for the United Federation of Planets.

Start nowCreated by longtime Rick and Morty writer Mike McMahan, Lower Decks brings madcap humor to the venerable franchise, focusing on junior officers assigned to the more tedious assignments and duties on board the Cerritos. While poking good-natured fun at the franchise, Lower Decks honors the hallmarks of series and films that came before it, with plenty of nods to its extensive history in every episode.
The first season will include 10 episodes, with a second season already greenlit as part of the initial series order when it was first officially announced by CBS in October 2018. There are currently no details on how long the series premiere of Lower Decks will be available on YouTube.
Star Trek: Lower Decks stars Tawny Newsome as Ensign Beckett Mariner, Eugene Cordero as Ensign Rutherford, Jack Quaid as Ensign Brad Boimler, Noël Wells as Ensign Tendi, Dawnn Lewis as Captain Carol Freeman, Jerry O'Connell as Commander Jack Ransom, Gillian Vigman as Doctor T'Ana and Fred Tatasciore as Lieutenant Shaxs. New episodes premiere Thursdays on CBS All Access.
