Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead Replaces Chris D'Elia After Sexual Misconduct Accusations

Though it has finished post-production, Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead has made a major cast change. Actor Chris D'Elia's role will be recast, with Tig Notaro stepping in to replace him. D'Elia was recently accused of sexual misconduct involving a number of underage girls, though he has denied the allegations.

Notaro will soon partake in reshoots for her role. Due to filming restrictions and the distance between cast members due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the reshoots will utilise a combination of techniques. These techniques include shooting scenes opposite an acting partner, as well as greenscreen and CGI technology.

Notaro's other credits include Noah Hawley's directorial debut Lucy in the Sky and Instant Family. She recently appeared in Season 2 of Star Trek Discovery as engineer Jett Reno and will return for Season 3.

Army of the Dead focuses on a group of mercenaries who plan to carry a heist in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The film is a spiritual successor to Snyder's directorial debut film, Dawn of the Dead.

Based on a story by Zack Snyder and a screenplay from Joby Harold, who recently wrote King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi and Ana de la Reguera. The film does not yet have a release date.
