In looking at her recent work as a part of both the Alien franchise and the terrifying world of Stephen King and which great white whale in the horror genre she would love to tackle next, she revealed that rather than another genre pic, there’s a certain King novella she’d love to bring to life on screen.

“It’s not horror, but when we were making Pet Sematary, I was actually talking about how I’d really like to do a new adaptation of Stand By Me with a pre-teen group of girls,” Seimetz revealed.

Chris Messina (Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Seimetz’s co-star in the Noomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman-starring thriller, expressed excitement at the possibility of seeing The Girlfriend Experience co-creator’s take on the material and even joked about his own involvement in the project.

“If you make the movie, could I play The Body?” Messina half-joked.

“Absolutely you can,” Seimetz laughed. “You can hold the boom mic too!”

King’s 1982 novella centered on a group of pre-teen boys in 1960 Castle Rock, Maine as they venture to the train tracks on the outskirts of the area in the search for the dead body of a local missing boy. It was previously adapted into the 1986 film Stand By Me helmed by Rob Reiner (The Princess Bride, Misery) and starred Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation), River Phoenix (My Own Private Idaho), Corey Feldman (The Goonies) and Jerry O’Connell (Star Trek: Lower Decks) as the main group of boys, as well as Kiefer Sutherland (The Fugitive) as local gang leader John “Ace” Merrill.

It was a strong box office success upon release, grossing over $52 million on its $4 million budget, and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, including King himself, who called it the first successful translation of one of his works to screen, and garnered one Oscar nomination and two Golden Globe nods.

The Secrets We Keep is set to hit select theaters on September 16 and VOD and digital platforms on October 16!
