Star Trek: Discovery & The Stand Panels Set For NYCC 2020
CBS All Access will make an appearance at New York Comic-Con with panels for Star Trek: Discovery, The Stand, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. Hailed as one of the biggest entertainment conventions of the year, NYCC is an annual highlight for fans who are often awarded trailers, exclusive merchandise, and major studio announcements. Last month, it was revealed the convention would host an entirely virtual edition of New York Comic Con amid coronavirus concerns. Now, it appears that Star Trek and The Stand will have a significant presence at NYCC 2020.
Per Deadline, CBS All Access revealed they would roll out panels for Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Stephen King’s The Stand. Slated to take place October 8 through October 11, NYCC 2020 can be viewed on the convention’s YouTube channel and the Metaverse website. Scheduled for October 8, the Star Trek lineup will offer the latest on Discovery season 3 and feature special appearances from stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, and more. Set to premiere in December, King’s highly-anticipated The Stand will feature a panel on October 9 with an exclusive Q&A with the cast - including Whoopi Goldberg, Greg Kinnear, and Amber Heard - of the apocalyptic limited series.
Without an official in-person attendance, NYCC 2020 is opting to work around the year of cancellations by offering a virtual lineup that includes panels for The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, and Stargirl. On the heels of exciting developments in the Star Trek galaxy and The Stand finally announcing a release date, NYCC 2020 is a crucial time for CBS All Access to showcase its original content.
