Star Trek’s Wil Wheaton really wants to reunite with Sir Patrick Stewart in Picard: ‘It would be amazing’
Star Trek’s Wil Wheaton is desperate to reunite with Sir Patrick Stewart in the franchise – and someone needs to make this happen!
The actor starred as Wesley Crusher in The Next Generation, however, he has now touched on the idea of reprising the role for Picard.
The 48-year-old made the confession when chatting to Trek Movie.
‘Oh, yeah,’ he gushed. ‘If they were interested in me, I would do absolutely everything I could to get to “yes.”
‘If I got to work with Patrick again and if I had the privilege of performing in a scene with him again, it would be such a gift and such a blessing.’
Wil pressed: ‘That would be an amazing, amazing experience that I would absolutely love to happen.’
The cast recently reunited over video call, with a picture of their Zoom chat emerging on Twitter featuring the likes of Sir Patrick, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden and of course, Wil.
Marina Sirtis, who plays Counselor Deanna Troi, posted the picture alongside the caption: ‘I have the best friends in the world. Considering everything, this was the best birthday present.’
McFadden also shared a similar version of the shot, adding: ‘Different shot, but same amazing group. What a blast it was to chat away….and laugh. felt so good.’
But, before Wil makes waves again in the franchise, he currently has a new project on his hands.
That’s right, the star is set to narrate the Ready Player Two audiobook written by Ernest Cline.
The novel will be released in November this year, and is the sequel to the esteemed Ready Player One, which was recently turned into a film by Steven Spielberg.
Publisher Penguin recently made the announcement on Twitter, writing: ‘Listen up!
‘Wil Wheaton will narrate #READYPLAYERTWO, Ernest Cline’s highly-anticipated sequel to the bestselling READY PLAYER ONE!’
Star Trek: Picard is available to stream now on Amazon Prime while The Next Generation is over on Netflix.
