Star Trek: How Old Are The Heroes? Their True Age & Birthday

As far as sci-fi franchises are concerned, Star Trekcontinues to be one of the most popular ones. Created in 1966, it now features multiple TV shows and films, many books and games, and so much more. One reason for Star Trek's popularity is the optimistic portrayal of the future. Yes, there are still troubles even in the world of Star Trek but the heroes are constantly working to make things better.

With so many characters appearing in the franchise, it's then easy to lose track of who lived when, when they were born and when they died. It might be surprising for some to then learn how long-lived some of  Star Trek's beloved heroes ended up to be.

10 James T. Kirk

The legendary Captain Kirk was born in Iowa in 2233. His date of birth is the 22nd of March which makes him an Aries. What everyone might not know is that Kirk was the youngest person ever to become Star Fleet Captain.

It happened when he was just 32. But in the Kelvin timeline, where Chris Pine plays Kirk, he was even younger - only 25 years old! William Shatner's Kirk died in 2371 but physically, he was just 60 because he was living in the timeless Nexus for a long time.

9 Pavel Chekov

Pavel Chekov was one of the youngest crew members and he didn't join Star Trek: The Original Series until its second season. But he quickly became one of the fan-favorites.

Chekov's youth is obvious, so it won't come as a surprise he wasn't born until September 2245 - that makes him 12 years younger than his captain. It's not clear when he died but in 2293, he still seemed to be in good health when he visited the new USS Enterprise-B.

8 Spock

Spock's life story is complicated and that includes his age as well. What's clear is that Spock was born on his home planet Vulcan on the 6th of January 2230 which means he's a Capricorn.

He first died in March 2285 at 55 years of age but was revived the same year. Spock went missing in 2387 when he saved the Federation from the exploding supernova. He traveled back in time and lived out the rest of his life in an alternate reality. He died on January 2nd, 2263 when he was 161 years old.

7 Leonard McCoy

Unlike his fellow crewman Chekov, Doctor McCoy - better known simply as Bones - was one of the older Enterprise crewmembers. McCoy was born in Georgia in January 2227.

He then went on to live an exceptionally long life (for a human). McCoy retired in 2364 and was still seen visiting the new USS Enterprise-D when he was 137 years old.

6 Jean-Luc Picard

Speaking of USS Enterprise-D, the ship's captain was none other than Jean-Luc Picard. Picard was born on the 13th of July 2305 which means he's a Leo.

Picard is still alive to this point - except for his human body that died in 2399 due to a serious illness. However, Soji and Soong were able to transfer his consciousness into a golem, an android version of Picard's body which allowed him to continue in his mission.

5 Benjamin Sisko

Sisko's and Picard's timeline mostly coincide and the two Captains even met at one point - even though Sisko wasn't fond of Picard because he blamed him for his wife's death.

Benjamin Sisko was born in 2332 in New Orleans and he arrived at the Deep Space Nine station in 2369. Similarly to Spock, Sisko also went missing - this happened in 2375.

4 Kathryn Janeway

Kathryn Janeway was the first woman in the Star Trek franchise who served as a captain of her own ship - at least where the Federation was concerned. She was born in Indiana on the 20th of May 2335 which means she's a Taurus.

Janeway had one sister, Phoebe, who became an artist. And it's known Janeway's mother was still alive in 2378. What remains unclear is when Janeway herself died - unless the fans count her brief death in June 2380. Q had resurrected her the following year in September.

3 Jonathan Archer

Even before Captain Kirk came on the scene, Jonathan Archer was a captain of the Enterprise. He was born in New York in 2112. He started serving as the captain of the Enterprise in 2151.

He went on to become one of the Federation's earliest presidents after the Federation had been founded in 2161. Archer died in July 2245, making him over 130 years old.

2 T'Pol

When T'Pol joined the Enterprise, it was not yet customary for Vulcans to serve with human crews. Considering the longevity of the Vulcans, T'Pol was most likely the oldest crew member.

However, she was rather secretive about her date of birth and preferred not to share it with her fellow crewmembers. T'Pol was born on Vulcan in 2088 and she shared the story of her grandmother who visited the Earth all the way back in 1957. T'Pol's date of death remains a mystery, all is known is that she was still active in 2161.

1 Zefram Cochrane

Finally, it's time to give space to the man who made all of the above possible. Zefram Cochrane was the inventor of the first warp drive, and if it wasn't for him, there would be no first contact with the Vulcans in 2063 and possibly also no Federation. Cochrane was born not long from now, in 2030 in Montana.

He disappeared when he was 87 but was later rejuvenated and kept young by an Alien Entity. That allowed him to live for another 150 years and when Captain Kirk and his crew met Cochrane in 2267, he supposedly didn't look any older than 35. Cochrane died in May 2366 at the age of 366.
