Star Trek: Picard Michael Dorn will guest-star with one condition

Star Trek: Picard is already making room for several more TNG characters this coming season

However, there is one character whose appearance still remains murky on Star Trek: Picard—Lt. Commander Worf (played by Michael Dorn). The Klingon’s voice was last heard in the Star Trek Online game in 2010, but Dorn has not appeared in full character since Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002.  While he hasn’t ruled out a guest-starring role on Patrick Stewart’s series or any other Star Trek series, he does have conditions, much like William Shatner does in order to reprise the Captain Kirk role.

Dorn will not appear only for a cameo. The 68-year-old actor (as of December 9th) made it clear that he would only bring the character back if the part was a major one. He won’t put on the make up and prosthetics only to come onscreen, clean someone’s clock, and then go home. Basically, he isn’t interested in just being muscle.

Honestly, that would be a waste of Michael Dorn’s abilities anyway. Worf was about so much more than his ability to fight. His dry one-liners and surly personality were important parts of both The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. While both shows gave him the ability to shine, DS9 really brought out a different side of the Klingon, helped, of course, by Jadzia Dax, played by Terry Ferrell.

With Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner having already appeared on Picard, Gates McFadden saying there’s a good chance she’ll appear, and Levar Burton in talks to appear, Dorn is the last remaining series regular from TNG that has yet to appear or to even be in discussions to guest star. But Levar Burton seems to think we will see all of the regulars on Picard at some point as, according to Space.com, he told Entertainment Tonight, “you’ll see us all.” So there’s still hope we’ll see our favorite Klingon back on screen again.
