Star Trek falls to Star Wars and more in the FanSided 250 fandom countdown

If you’re a fan of Star Trek, you’re going to be irked by this; Star Wars has a “better” fandom than Trek, according to FanSided 250.

As a fan-based brand, Star Trek ranked No. 158 in the FanSided 250 fandom countdown. The countdown looks at franchises’ impact and fanbase supporting them in their yearly look. The countdown is divided up into several categories, while also maintaining an overall countdown against all things sports, entertainment, and pop culture.

So yes, they rank No. 158 but that’s up against European soccer teams, some of the biggest influencers out there, and all sorts of video games. So it’s not an insult at all to be in the top 200. more than that, Star Trek ranked No. 12 in the TV rankings ahead of The Office, Supernatural, Dr. Who, and The Walking Dead.

Unfortunately, they were beat out by the Mandalorian, who came in at No. 91 overall and No. 4 in the television rankings.

As Star Wars is Star Trek’s most natural rival that one is pretty obvious competition. Made worse is that Star Wars really only had one major show on this year that garnered a lot of attention. They have shows on YouTube and Disney sure, but only the Mandalorian got any real mainstream love. So despite putting out three shows this year, Discovery, Picard, and Lower Decks; Trek as a property lost to just one show.

The top-rated show was the Pop TV series Schitt’s Creek, which finished its run in 2020, becoming a huge hit for the network and winning oodles of awards. The rest of the fandoms that beat out Star Trek are below.
